2018 June Escapades

June included a good day out with grand-cousin Enrico from Holland. We did a circle trip with the ferries (Salt Spring-Crofton-Home) and it was perfect weather. We in particular enjoyed our hike on Salt Spring on Mount Maxwell and were able to see a great vista from Vancouver to Sooke!
Brother Ivo & wife Sara hosted a super evening for Enrico before heading out to the Okanagan for a camp trip together with Enrico and Ivo’s daughters and their families.

The bird count in Manning Park in mid-June was a good time, and we enjoyed getting out hiking with tapestry weaver Anne & her husband George Clark, who had told us about the count in January. Bob did really well with the audio i.d. and took a few good photos – with bird counts there is not a lot of time for snapping pictures, as there is a lot of ground to cover, and 90% is audio i.d. One of the bird-counters was the young fellow Kane we had met birding in Kelowna the previous October.

At the beginning of June we took our motor-craft course with Power Squadron in preparation for a possible boating trip with the Youngs. Svetlana Young also took the course and all three of us passed! A highlight of the month for Yolanda was a gallery day with sister Sonia and her mother in law, auntie to all, Shirley Salkeld!
